Thank you kindly for your interest in our fundraiser! We decided to create a "Go Fund Me" account due to the many supporters expressing a desire to help us and so that we could have one outlet for this specific fundraiser.
We are Mother of Life Center of Providence, RI, a faith based non-profit pro-life organization. Our mission is to embrace the gift of life and to support growing families in our community. We fulfill that through offering free access to pregnancy test, ultrasounds, counseling, family focused education, as well as baby and child clothing and supplies. We also aid in navigating our clients through many opportunities to benefit from our extensive network of organizations.
It has been 14 years since we have occupied a beautiful two story building in the busy hostoric distict of Federal Hill. Until now, the only space suitable for group activities for our clients and families was the dining room on the second level.
A need to expand the center in order to grow within our mission had recently become apparent. To offer a safe space for mothers and children to gather, to host parenting classes and other client centered activities, we set out to build a conference room in our basement last year. We were faced with many unexpected challenges throughout this lengthy process, but thanks to our incredible, donors, staff and volunteers we had finally completed this project on January 11th in time for a special revealing during an open house. On January 12th, we welcomed all supporters of the center to celebrate with us this great accomplishment. The video at the top of this page illustrates what we had achieved.
One week after our open house hundreds of thousands of pro life supporters gathered in Washington D.C. to March for Life, some of them happened to be members of our staff. The night before the march, our newly built conference room was vandalized and deliberately flooded. We are sure of the deliberateness of this act and it is confirmed by the local police that it was vandalism. Our second video shows the damage that has been done.

To see everything we worked so hard to achieve be so carelessly and maliciously destroyed was nothing short of heart-breaking. It's a true blessing we were able to keep Mother of Life Center open after such an event. It will take us weeks to get back on track with our agenda but we will not be discouraged from carrying out our mission.
We are working to raise funds for our security systems to be updated to ensure something like this will never happened again. We are receiving estimates for surveillance cameras, fence to surround the entire property with an electric gate, and video surveillance from the inside. Our entrance to the parking lot needs repair and this will need to be done prior to installing the electric gate. The entrance door to our facility needs to be replaced as well to increase security. There are concrete issues surrounding the building that need attention and will add to the ability to install an electric gate.
The estimates are slowly coming and we are working very hard setting up appointments to get the best prices possible but at the same time something that we can invest in now that will be long lasting. Here is a breakdown of what we need and the range of costs so far. We will add estimates as we receive them:
Security Cameras: 1-2,000
Fence for entire property:
Electronic Gate:
Front Entrance Door: 3-4,000
Concrete work for water proofing: 2,500
Amount to tile the floor in the conference room is above and beyond the insurance reimbursement amount by 1,732. Insurance will cover 4,467.95. Tile will cost approx. 6,700
We are estimating the need to raise about 15,000. We will keep you informed throughout the whole process and give you updates frequently so that you can see the progress and witness how your generous donations are accomplishing these goals.
