Hello! My name is Emma, and I'm a high school student in Syracuse. This May, I'm excited to host a charity fundraiser for Morgan's Message, an incredible organization dedicated to mental health awareness and support for student-athletes. Morgan's Message aims to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and provide resources for those in need, ensuring that every student feels heard and supported.

For this event, our goal is to raise as much money as possible to help further their mission. The Women's Lacrosse, Women's Basketball, Men's Soccer, and Men's Track & Field teams are raising money for Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community. With this fundraiser, we aim to encourage and normalize dialogue within the student-athlete community.

Farmington Girls Lacrosse team is partnering up with Southwest Christian Girls Lacrosse team to raise funds and awareness for Mental Health. Our Mental Health game will be held @4:30 PM on 4/11 at FHS.

Last year we raised over $2,000 in support to end the Stigma around Mental Health and Athletes. This year we are Striving for our goal of $3,000.

All donations will be given to Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics.

They aim to expand the dialogue on mental health by normalizing conversations, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone.

Hello Stars Girls Lacrosse,

Each year Farmington hosts a Morgans Message Girls Lacrosse Team game. This year they asked the Stars if we would be part of their special day. The game will be held Friday, April 11th at Farmington. Both the JV and Varsity will be part of the event. As part of this contest, teams have been encouraged to raise funds through Gofundme. If you choose to participate you are welcome to join us.

Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke University lacrosse student-athlete, died tragically in July 2019 after battling mental health struggles. Although Morgan's life was cut way too short, her legacy of unconditional love remains. Morgan's Message was created by her family and former teammates with the mission to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, normalize conversations about mental health, and ensure that mental health is treated equally to physical health for all student-athletes. We are a part of the organization Live Like Blaine, and for our service project, we’ve chosen to raise both money and awareness for Morgan's Message and Mental Health. We are Harper, Kherington, and Asiyah

We are a part of Live Like Blaine Leadership Foundation and for our community service project we have chosen to study and work with mental health in student athletes. Mental health is just as important as physical health, but for student-athletes, it often gets overlooked. Between the pressure to perform, academic stress, and the daily challenges of being a student and an athlete, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Too many athletes struggle in silence, afraid to ask for help.

That’s why we’re supporting Morgan’s Message, an incredible organization dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health in sports. Their mission is to make sure no athlete feels alone and that mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health.

To help spread awareness, we’re organizing a game at our school focused on mental health in athletics. We also want to raise funds to support Morgan’s Message, and we’re planning a donation game and other fundraising events to contribute to their mission.

I have seen how mental illness has affected my friends, family, and myself. I am running for all of those who couldn’t find their way out of a dark hole and those who still struggle to get mental health care today. Reaching out for help isn’t easy, but it is important and Morgan’s Message has been an incredible platform to emphasize the importance of asking for help.

Being a part of the Morgan's Message team is something I'm incredibly grateful for, and I'm really passionate about raising funds for this incredible organization that's making a real difference in the world of Mental Health. Anything helps! Thank you so much!

As many of you know, I decided about 10 months ago to start training for an Ironman Race. Completing an Ironman had always been on my bucket list, and then last November, my daughter, Anna, tore her ACL. After her surgery, the reality set in about how hard her journey would be to get back to playing the sport she loved. It was then that I decided to take on the training. Although our journeys looked and were very different, I wanted her to feel supported and see that you can do hard things. She worked hard and trained hard, and I did the same. There were days she wanted to quit and days that I wanted to quit, but we kept each other going.

Then, this past April, my 26-year-old nephew, Max, died by suicide. Our family was faced with the unimaginable loss of a loved one. After months of thinking about Max and grappling with his death and all the why's that come with it, I decided I didn't want his death to go unseen. I wanted to use his death as an opportunity to spread awareness for mental health. At first, I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, and then one night, I woke up remembering how a year ago my daughter talked about becoming an ambassador for a foundation called Morgan's Message. I woke up the next morning and looked it up. I knew immediately that this is what I wanted to be involved in and support.

Morgan died by suicide 5 years ago.

After losing our nephew, so many of us continue to ask ourselves what we could have done. Could I have done something different? I know I can't bring Max back, but I am determined to help spread awareness and help in trying to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. I am 10 days out of Ironman Florida. I am reaching out to you all and asking if you would support me in any way you can as I race to finish and raise money for this wonderful foundation.

On Nov 2nd, I will be racing for my daughter Anna, for my nephew Max and for all those who have struggled with mental health and who have felt alone.

If what we raise can support this cause and help even just one person, I know Max would be smiling down on us all.

I am so excited to share that I am running the Richmond Marathon along with Morgan's Message . Morgans Message is an organization that works to not only bring awareness to athlete’s mental health, but to create a space where we can share our experiences and open up to other people within the athlete community to build a support system for the days that felt like I just couldn’t make it though. I had the honor of helping bring MM to the William and Mary campus which ended up being one of the most formative experiences of my life. During my collegiate experience I faced many days where I felt like I just couldn’t continue on, so this November 10th on race day and each day in training where I feel like I can’t keep going, I will take that next step in remembrance of our fellow athletes who felt that next step was just too much for them to take on their own. I will run not only in remembrance but in an effort to end the stigma of athlete mental health. I look forward to sharing this journey with you all and hope you all want to join me and raising money and bringing awareness to a topic that is so near and dear to my heart.
