A Symphony of Dreams: The Mongolian Youth Orchestra
The Mongolian Youth Orchestra is a dynamic and talented ensemble consisting of young musicians aged 10-18, dedicated to delivering exceptional performances across a diverse repertoire. With 16 skilled violinists leading the string section, our orchestra includes a full complement of other musicians playing violas, cellos, double basses, woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments.
The Mission
MYO's mission was simple yet profound: to provide access to high-quality musical education while creating a space where young people could connect, express themselves, and grow together. They believed that music wasn't just about playing notes; it was about building bridges—between individuals, cultures, and communities.
Strength in Numbers
The orchestra’s rapid growth came from its inclusive philosophy. The founders worked tirelessly to bring in young musicians of all skill levels, ensuring that cost and access would never be barriers. They partnered with schools, local businesses, and philanthropists to provide free instruments, low-cost lessons, and scholarships for advanced training.
To create a cohesive ensemble, the orchestra directors organized workshops blending strings and winds, teaching students to listen, adapt, and balance their sound. They also introduced mentoring, pairing experienced players with newcomers.
A harmonious future
CYO's vision did not stop at weekly rehearsals and concerts. We launched initiatives like composer workshops, where students collaborated to create original music, and “Music Beyond Borders,” a program that introduced global styles, from Mongolian symphonies to world’s modern contemporary symphony.
