Mission for the Homeless

"Pure and faultless religion is this: to look after the widows and orphans in their distress..." (James 1:27)

There are people on the streets who have been widowed and orphaned by society. They have neither friend, nor family. Hungry, cold, humiliated, and lonely. Sick and without shelter. They are the weak of our world. 

Our mission is to be strong for those without strength, to love unconditionally and without judgment; to be love and light in a dark world.

Funds that are raised will be used for food, water, clothing, blankets, shelter, gasoline, transportation, doctor visits and presecibed medication copays, wheel chairs, miscellaneous supplies needed to deliver food, and so much more. We visit the homeless daily and nightly, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We also provide a monthly sermon at Lafayette square park in Oakland California to which the needy can come and get a hot meal, and be encouraged.

All of our volunteers financially support the mission from their own pockets. Our goal is to raise these funds as fast as humanly possible because our organization is in a state of emergency due to new policies in San Francisco, which have resulted in a displacement of it's homeless populatIon. These refugees have wound up in the east bay creating an exponential rise in the number of homeless people in Oakland, and our small organization simply can not keep up.

If we can meet our fundraising goal, it will mean enough care to get us through another quarter. The gratitude in our hearts as volunteers is inexplicable through words, and the donations received will be so encouraging to us, as it will be indicative of love in the hearts of many.

Remember that "God is love", therefore love is the highest authority.

PASTOR VINNIE NEEDS A NEW VAN!!!

We are fundraising to help Pastor Vinnie replace his van, so he and his team can get back on the road and continue ensuring their clients are safe, comfortable and housed. As the founder of Mission for the Homeless (a 501 (c)(3) non profit), he and a small team of volunteers travel the East Bay, providing food, clothes, and medicine for people in need. He has also placed dozens of formerly unhoused individuals into permanent homes and visits them daily.

Vinnie drives over 5,000 miles a month, and the van has over 256,000 miles on it. Lately it has been breaking down frequently, making it harder for Vinnie and his team to do their work. His van is the lifeblood of his work and without it he can’t provide the outreach he has been doing everyday for the last 20 years. That includes administering insulin and other medication, providing food, tents, clothes and sleeping bags, taking some off the streets and to the hospital or finding them permanent housing, and getting social security and health benefits for those that qualify.

Pastor Vinnie left his doctoral studies at Cal Berkeley over 25 years ago to pursue his calling, and he has been conducting homeless outreach ever since.

He scrapes by with the generosity of donors like you. Every dollar his nonprofit receives goes to help others. No middlemen or administrative overhead. So you can feel confident that the money you give isn’t wasted. If you want to give to a nonprofit that has results, this is it.
