Donate to Minds Matter NYC!
Hi family and friends,
I reached out about 2 year ago to raise money for my mentee Leonna Desty as well as the rest of the NYC mentees to attend summer programs as part of their curriculum at Minds Matter.
Quick recap: Minds Matter NYC is a college access nonprofit that provides three years of holistic mentorship to high-achieving, low-income students on their paths to college success. They have an AMAZING TRACK RECORD - 100% of NYC Minds Matter are accepted to a 4-year university each year.
Here we are in 2020 -- Leonna graduated with a scholarship and is currently working on her degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. I'm so unbelievably proud of her. Since she graduated, I joined the Minds Matter Associate Board with our goal to drive fundraising and get the word out about the amazing opportunities that Minds Matter offers minority students every single year.
With COVID-19 this year, our primary fundraising initiative Spring Soiree was canceled and with it incredibly important donations that help keep the program afloat.
Today, I'm reaching out on Juneteenth -- a day that commemorates African American freedom -- to ask for your help in supporting Minds Matter. My goal is to raise $3,000 for the program to continue their work of closing the opportunity gap for low-income and BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) students.
To put it into perspective, at competitive colleges nation-wide, only 3% of students come from low-income families. To not offer these students the opportunity they deserve is to deprive the world on talent, innovation, and the perspective they can bring. I truly believe in the difference this organization can make.
Thank you in advance for any donation you can make -- any bit helps! If you can share this link along, would be greatly appreciated.
Hope to see you all soon,
Arabella
