Mill Town Players
Mill Town Players is a community theater whose purpose is to entertain, inspire, and enrich our community by providing quality and affordable live theater.
Mill Town Players was launched on July 1, 2014, in the Historic Pelzer Auditorium with the announcement of the inaugural season and the unique mission of offering quality and affordable theater in Pelzer, SC.
Since its humble beginning, Mill Town Players has been recognized for artistic achievement and its positive impact on the community. In 2016, MTP received the Founders Award from the SC Theatre Association. It is the most prestigious award SCTA bestows to recognize the individual or organization that has made the most significant contribution to theater in SC. MTP has also won top honors in the state community theater festival in 2014, 2016, and 2018, and 3rd Place in the Southeast in 2017.
Recently MTP was named winner of the Southeastern Theatre Conference Community Theatre Festival in Knoxville, TN. MTP will advance on to AACTFest 2019: America’s National Community Theater Festival located in Gettysburg, PA, June 18-22. This is the first time that a team from South Carolina has advanced to nationals in 35 years.
This is a rare opportunity for our 21-member cast, crew, and production team. The trip is very expensive and one that we cannot afford. We are reaching out to our friends, family, and patrons to assist us in bringing our small-town theater group to the national stage. Upstate theaters will also benefit from MTP’s attendance by drawing attention to our thriving theater community in the Upstate of SC. Please consider donating to the Mill Town Players and help us achieve our goal of participating in the national community theater festival this June.
