Quinn Award for Social Justice in Nursing
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit MGH Institute of Health Professions - specifically, I am raising money for the Quinn Award for Social Justice in Nursing, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
The Quinn Award for Social Justice in Nursing will be given to at least one student per cohort from the MGH Institute of Health Professions ABSN program. The award consists of $1000 to be used towards tuition or nursing licensure fees (prep course, testing fees). The award will be funded, at minimum of $1000, by Dr. Lisa Quinn (me). I have already given $1000 of my own money towards the award but would like to make this an endowed award - meaning it will be funded permanently.
Nominating Faculty will write a letter to the Awards & Recognition Committee on behalf of the student(s). The students should not incur any burden to obtain this scholarship and will not have to write an essay or obtain letters of recommendation. The awardee will be determined by majority vote by the Awards & Recognition Committee upon review of the letters of recommendation.
Criteria:Self-identified Black nursing student in the ABSN program entering their final (4th) semester. The student should be in current good standing academically. Nominees should demonstrate leadership qualities and involvement in social justice activities. Preference is given for first-generation college students, and/or multi-lingual students.
If we can raise $25,000, there is a donor who will match the funds for a total of $50,000! With $50,000, the award will be permanently endowed.
