South Sudan Peace Building Project
Recently, MBB was invited to begin this work in South Sudan, primarily the Western Equatoria state where conflict continues to impact the population. The mission of the team in South Sudan is to provide local leaders and citizens skills for peace building including trauma education.
All funds donated will be used for the volunteer team members travel to as well as in the country. Donations will also be used to provide materials for the training. The initial in-country assessment trip took place in the Spring of 2015 with the second trip planned for December 2015.
Funds collected from this campaign will be used for the February 2016 trip where team members will be traveling to a Protection of Civilian site to assess impact of conflict on displaced citizens. Any additional funds collected will be used for materials for trainings and future travel.
The impact of conflict not only tears apart communities and societies, but also affects individuals, their relationships and ability to have basic needs sustained. In South Sudan, the continued conflict has created displacement of individuals from homes, families, and a lack of provision for basic living necessities.
The project goal is to provide locals with the skills to manage conflict in order to begin community healing and manage basic needs without violence. Your donations will assist in accomplishing this goal by providing citizens of all ages with abilities not afforded due to forced violence and loss of known life.
Currently the South Sudan project is funded by the individual volunteers on the team and small fundraising activities. The economy in South Sudan is volatile causing the cost on the team members to be substantial. Both the team members as well as the in-country partners are truly grateful for any donation and thought towards the initiative.
