The Renovations of Masjid Umar Ibn Al-Khattab
Assalam Walaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu (Peace be Upon you, and God's mercy and blessings). My name is Saarah Kabal and my goal this Ramadan is to raise $20,000 for the renovation project of my masjid.
Located on Main Street in Hartford Connecticut, Masjid Umar ibn Al Khattab is situated in one of the most economically challenged and dangerous cities in Connecticut. Warding off drug abuse, gun violence, and prostitution, our masjid remains one of the only places in the area that is a sanctuary for the believers. Given the prevailing conditions, it becomes imperative to provide masjid-goers with a safe environment free from violence or crime. Our masjid plays a pivotal role in accomplishing this goal by serving as an example for our non-Muslim neighbors by embodying an upright lifestyle upon the legislation of the Allāh [the Qur'an], the guidance of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the teachings of the Salaf As-Salih or the pious predecessors of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
We aim to make the masjid a community center wherein all Muslims can come to worship their Creator and learn their Deen. In order to accomplish this goal, we must have a functional place to worship, teach, and educate the Muslim youth. Masjid Umar ibn Al Khattab currently stands as the only Salafi masjid in Connecticut. As such it is our duty to establish a masjid whereupon the Qur'an and Sunnah are followed without injecting personal inclinations or belief systems into the Deen of Allāh.
Renovations include but are not limited to:
- A complete renovation and build of the Sister's Musallah (prayer area)
- New bathrooms/Wudhu stations for both Brothers & Sisters
- Renovation of the Dawah Center
- Building the Library
- Building the Community/Multi-use Room
- New office & storage area
We ask you to donate generously to allow our small community to grow and flourish and become a pillar of the community where all Muslims can seek refuge, worship, learn, and receive support.
And remember the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic:
“Who is he that will lend to Allāh a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times? And it is Allāh that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him, you shall return.” (Qur'an 2:245)
May Allāh bless and reward each and every one of you!
