Mary's Place by the Sea

My wife & best friend Isabel of 43 years has been battling ovarian cancer since  2015.  Mary's Place has been a Gods send for her and all of the women past and present who have been fortunate enough to discover this wonderful establishment and the very special founders and staff! Mary's Place provides a temporary haven from the emotional and medical trauma experienced by the all too many women of all ages dealing with various forms of cancer. They care for the whole person, providing a healing environment for the mind, body and soul.  Rest and relaxation, healthy meals, individual counseling, Oncology massage, guided meditation and most importantly, hope are provided by both licensed practitioners and dedicated volunteers, free of charge.  Of equal importance, they bring together women who develop committed friendships with others who can understand the challenges that each of them faces in a way very unique to their individual situations.  The group and individual therapy sessions have been wonderful for my wife Isabel and has introduced her to a circle of "very special" friends she has come to love.  In what is now the 10th Anniversary of Mary's Place I hope to raise as much as possible to aid them in continuing the very special work that they do and to thank them for being there for the women who is the love of my life!

Last year I lost a very important person in my life to cancer- my aunt, Ellen Marie Hall. In her honor, I am running my first ever half marathon. I have chosen the Philadelphia Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, September 16th, 2018, which just so happens to be a couple days after her birthday.

I have also decided to raise money for an organization that meant a lot to her - Mary's Place by the Sea. This nonprofit organization is a retreat for women battling cancer - a place that they can go to and relax, gain strength and receive services that complement their medical treatment. For my aunt, it was a place of solace - one she always looked forward to going to. I am extremely grateful for all that this organization did for her and continues to do for other women in need.
