Mary Ann Evans Hospice

Hi, im Lara and I am running the Lisbon Marathon on October 25th, in loving memory of Gwyn, and in deep gratitude to Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

When we brought Gwyn home for his final six months, the hospice stepped in and gave us more than care — they gave us comfort, dignity, and love. They supported Mum and Gwyn through one of the hardest times of our lives, and we will never forget the kindness and compassion they showed.

Now, I want to give something back. Every step of this marathon will be for Gwyn, for Mum, and for all the families who will one day need the same incredible support we received.

Mary Ann Evans Hospice relies on donations to continue their vital work. By supporting this fundraiser, you’ll be helping them to carry on providing care, comfort, and compassion to people when they need it most.

Why We’re Raising Money

We’re coming together to raise funds for Mary Ann Evans Hospice, a charity that holds a special place in our hearts. Recently, a member of our team and their family were deeply affected by cancer, and during that difficult time, the hospice provided outstanding care, compassion, and comfort.

To show our support and give back, we’re hosting a Charity Coffee & Cake Morning in aid of Mary Ann Evans Hospice. It’s a chance to come together, share a slice (or two!) of something sweet, and raise money for a cause that makes such a meaningful difference to families in our community.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps Mary Ann Evans Hospice continue their vital work supporting patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read our fundraising page! Me and my sister, Elise are thrilled to be running the London Marathon 2025 for the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

MAEH are a charity that provides high-quality support and end of life care across our community. They go the extra mile for their patients and families who are experiencing the end of life and bereavement stages; making them feel safe and comfortable.

Our beautiful Mum, Katie, battled her brain tumour for 15 years, but in May 2024 was devastatingly given 6 weeks to live. During this time, the Mary Ann Evans nurses provided care above and beyond what we could have ever imagined for which we are eternally grateful.

Mum continued her fight right until the very end and sadly passed away in August 2024 leaving us all utterly heartbroken.

Elise and I will put absolutely everything into our training and completing the marathon on behalf of our truly amazing Mum, and the inspirational team at MAEH. We hope by giving it our all, we can give back to Mary Ann Evans Hospice so they can continue to support other families in need.

We will be hugely grateful of any donations big or small to help us reach our goal! Thank you in advance for your contributions to this cause, it means so much to us and our family.

Running the Yorkshire Dales Marathon for Mary Ann Evans Hospice

Hi, my name is Matthew Buckler, and this year I’ve set myself a challenge - I’ll be running the Yorkshire Dales Marathon on August 31st to raise money for a cause very close to my heart: Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

This incredible hospice provides compassionate care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Their work makes a world of difference during some of life’s most difficult moments, and I want to do my part to help them continue offering that care to those who need it most.

Training for a marathon is no easy feat - the Yorkshire Dales course is tough, hilly, and scenic (emphasis on tough), but every mile I run will be powered by your support and the amazing work Mary Ann Evans Hospice does every day.

Our Vision is that patients, families and carers in our community experience a journey towards end of life and into bereavement that is supported, comfortable, safe and personalised and is in a place of their choice. All of our services are provided free of charge to our patients and their families.

Hi, my name is Craig. In 2023 I will be running the London marathon in aid of the Mary Ann Evans hospice. This charity is close to my family as my grandad passed away earlier this year and all off his funeral donations got donated to this charity which was chose by my Nan. This charity supports my Nan with her lymphedema. My aim is to raise as much money as I can for this amazing charity and to complete this marathon!!!

Any donations would be massively appreciated.

Matty & Matthew will be climbing Snowdon on the 19th February 2022.

 

We aim to raise £1,085.00, which is the height of Wales' tallest mountain, Snowdon.

 

We are raising the money in aid of Mary Ann Evans Hospice, and every donation will help them give the exceptional care and service that they provide to so many families in need where they have members of their family that are near end of life.

 

We have seen first-hand the exceptional service they provide as Matty's auntie, Jade, had the opportunity to use this service. There is no better cause than supporting a charity that gives so much happiness and relief to the patients and their families in such difficult times.
