Donations to this fund will establish a scholarship to honor the life of Dr. Kenneth O’Connor, who was a professor of chemistry at Marshall University. Dr. O’Connor generously shared his love of science and chemistry with his students at Marshall and with the greater Huntington-Charleston community through his efforts in chemistry magic shows and scout merit badge workshops. Dr. O’Connor was known for his varied collection of chemical demonstrations, which intrigued and inspired many to pursue careers in science and medicine. He regularly donated an enormous amount of his personal time to meet one-on-one with his students in class or with those who wanted career advice in preparation for medical school. Dr. O’Connor was a greatly respected professor, colleague, and friend who possessed a unique ability to make organic chemistry unintimidating and fun. We seek to remember and continue his great legacy through the establishment of this scholarship fund.
