My name is Hiram Cortez, and I am the Executive Director of Many Languages One Voice (MLOV). I am raising funds to support our immigrant families who are being severely impacted by the unprecedented federal incursion into DC.
MLOV works with hundreds of immigrant families in DC, providing critical support and programs to improve the wellbeing and strength of our communities.
The families we work with are hard-working, brilliant, resilient, and are integral members of our social fabric. It has been devastating to see the harmful effects the current crisis in our city.
--An increasing number of families have had loved ones taken by ICE.
--Many cannot work to meet basic needs.
--Our youth are living with the chronic stress of what comes next for their families.
--Others want to move out of DC or even go back home, but do not have any funds to do this with dignity.
We seek your support to help us provide immediate resources and financial support to the vulnerable immigrant youth, older adults, and parents who do not have support outside of MLOV. Your donation will help immigrant families to take care of themselves and their families.
Your contributions will be distributed to immigrant families as direct financial assistance and support with obtaining essential needs.
Please consider giving any amount to help our neighbors in need. Below are ways that your support can make an impact in a family's life:
-$100 pays for a legal consultation with an attorney
-$60 supports an MLOV family with a week of groceries
-$40 helps a family buy school supplies
-$20 pays for one day's transportation needs
-$500 helps a family pay for part of their rent this month
-Immigration legal representation runs in the thousands of dollars, and our immigrant families are facing various other essential needs for which your support would be critically helpful!
