Help This Family Rebuild After Domestic Violence
Why Women Don’t Leave…
We are asking our community to come together for a single mother of three who is working tirelessly to rebuild a safe and stable life for her children after fleeing domestic violence.
On June 29th, 2025, she made the incredibly brave decision to leave her home with her children. They left nearly everything behind—taking only what could fit into three small suitcases—after the father of her older two children put his hands on their 6-year-old son. That moment changed everything, and she knew she had to protect her children at all costs.
Since then, this mother has been doing everything she can to keep her children safe. They have stayed with different family members and friends whenever possible, while she searched endlessly for a home she could afford. For the entire month of October, she lived and worked out of a hotel, using every dollar she earned just to keep a roof over their heads for one more night.
She has applied for housing assistance through the state, but despite being on the waitlist since April of 2023—in eight different locations—she has received no placement or timeline for help.
Just before Thanksgiving, there was finally a breakthrough: she was approved for an apartment with a move-in date of Friday, December 12th, 2025. She immediately connected the apartment manager with her social worker, as she had been told that move-in assistance would be available once she found a place—help with first month’s rent and the deposit.
She has done everything asked of her, completed every step, and followed every direction. But as of today, she still has not received confirmation that the homeless services program will cover the move-in costs. Without this support, she cannot afford to secure the home she worked so hard and waited nearly six months to find.
She is now at risk of losing the only safe, stable housing opportunity she has had since leaving.
This mother is doing everything in her power to keep her children safe and give them a fresh start. When people ask, “Why don’t women leave?” — it’s because this is what happens when they do. The fear, the instability, the financial barriers, the endless waiting, the uncertainty… all of it becomes real the moment they walk away.
But she still left. She took that step. She protected her children. And she has fought every day since.
Now, she needs help to cross this final hurdle.
Let’s come together to give this mother and her three children the chance to move into a stable home—a place that is safe, their own, and filled with hope for the future.
Your support truly can change the course of their lives.
