Teddy, who has cheered and welcomed thousands of climbers as they've returned from the mountain is going to make the attempt herself. On 23 October 2022, Teddy and Inno will be joining Lenore and a few former Stella Maris Lodge guests for a chance to summit Africa's tallest mountain.

Teddy Chuwa, the Manager and heart and soul of Stella Maris, is climbing Kilimanjaro to raise funds to refurbish our school. The COVID pandemic largely decimated global travel -- the sole income source for our "self-sustaining" operation. The almost two years without appreciable income, yet continuing to feed and educate the children, resulted in necessary spending cutbacks that have left the school in significant need of supplies, maintenance, and repairs. Our hope for this October's climb is to enable us to restore school funding levels, replenish school supplies, furniture, computers, etc. that have been neglected these past couple of years.
