Hi everyone,

This year, for my birthday, I’m asking for support for the Mai Soli Foundation, the nonprofit I founded to prevent child marriage and empower girls with education, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship - and most of all, to give agency.

My passion for ending child marriage is rooted in my own mother's story. My mother was a victim of child marriage. She was forced into a marriage as a young girl, losing the freedom and choices that every child deserves. Growing up, I witnessed how those sacrifices shaped her life, and I promised myself I would do everything in my power to ensure no girl ever has to endure the same fate.

That’s why I started the Mai Soli Foundation at just 19 years old. Today, by the age of 26, we’ve already reached hundreds of girls in Bangladesh, giving them the tools, mentorship, and opportunities to stay in school, avoid early marriage, and unlock their full potential. But this is just the beginning—our goal is to reach thousands more.

On my birthday, I can’t think of a better gift than helping a girl gain the freedom my mom never had.

Hi everyone,

My name is Maisha and starting this Ramadan, I'll be partnering with the Mai Soli Foundation to raise donations to end child marriages and further girls' education in Bangladesh.

In October 2021, I had the privilege of traveling to Bangladesh and visiting the villages my parents grew up in. My mom was so excited to share stories from her childhood and even took me on a tour of the school that she attended. (This is us in front of her primary school!)

While in her village, we met many young girls who loved to learn but were scared that their families could no longer afford their education. We spoke to worried mothers who said they barely have enough money to feed their kids, and the only option they had for their daughters was to get them married as soon as possible.

About 59% of young girls in Bangladesh are married before the age of 18, and nearly 22% before the age of 15. (In 2020, that was 38 million child brides.)

Through partnerships with local schools & communities in Bangladesh, the Mai Soli Foundation seeks to eradicate child marriage from the world once and for all, by providing essential services and resources to girls at risk. As part of this, educational opportunities are created for these girls; self-defense, self-confidence, holistic health practices are taught, along with economic development programs provided to make sure these young girls are able to contribute to society in the way in which THEY CHOOSE.

As we begin the 2nd half of the month of Ramadan, I kindly ask that you consider a donation and help us reach our goal of $2000 by Eid Al Fitr.

100% of all donations will go directly to help the girls at the Mai Soli Foundation.

The Mai Soli Foundation has supported over 500 young girls in Bangladesh receive education instead of forced child marriage. Our model works. It protects girls, shifts family beliefs, and opens real futures.

But this year, the entire funding landscape collapsed.

USAID cuts + corporate pullbacks = little to no money for girls’ education.

Now we are at risk of pausing future scholarships, meaning the 500 girls we've helped so far may be the last we can protect against the horrors of child marriage.
