Magic Moments

Hello Auburn Family!! I am beyond honored to have the opportunity to be a candidate for Auburn University's Miss Homecoming! Please join hands with me this week as I promote ways to be victorious over the two leading causes of death in the United States: Heart Disease and Cancer. My family fell victim to both of these diseases simultaneously in the fall of 2008 when I was diagnosed with cancer, and in the midst of my treatments, lost my father and best friend to a sudden heart attack. This is the sad reality for far too many individuals annually, and I know we, as a community, can believe in positive change! In the midst of my family's dark times, not only did the Auburn Family step in to carry us through, the Magic Moments Organization did as well. Magic Moments is an incredible local non-profit that grants truly magical moments to children with chronically life-threatening diseases. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of a magical moment and now with the second chance at life that I have been given, I can't wait to pay it forward! We will be on the concourse all week sending postcards to our loved ones reminding them to get screened for early signs of cancer and heart disease, and all of the funds raised this week will go directly towards this non-profit that holds such a special place in my heart.
