Benjy and Steve's half marathon to raise money for Maggie's
At the end of 2024, our brother John was diagnosed with leukaemia. After months of treatment, he went into remission in 2025, which was a huge boost for everyone. Unfortunately, towards the end of 2025, tests showed that the leukaemia had returned and John now needs further treatment. He has taken it all in his stride, staying positive and focused on getting through it – with plenty of humour along the way and his two children keeping him on his toes.
As his brothers we decided to do something a bit more active than just offering moral support, so we’ve signed up to run a half marathon to raise money for Maggie’s.
Below is some information about Maggie's and how as a charity they can help people with cancer and their families:
Every Maggie’s centre is a welcoming space where you can find support with money worries, tips on managing stress, and a friendly place to go when you need someone to listen.
Maggie's workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support help people change the way they live with cancer.
Their support is shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing and to help people take control when cancer turns life upside down.
Understanding everyone's individual circumstances is central to what they do. It means they can guide people to the support that will make the most difference to them.
Maggie’s is a fantastic cancer charity and we’re proud to be raising money for such an important cause. They have been a great help to John & his family over this past year.
We will be running this on 21/2/26 at the Temple Newsom estate in Leeds. If you’re able to donate, we’d be hugely grateful. Every contribution helps, and it will give us even more motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other on race day. Thank you for your support!
