Help Us Build A Faith-Based Performing Arts Center
At Lumina Theatre Company, we believe in the transformative power of storytelling—the kind of storytelling that goes beyond entertainment and invites deep reflection, personal growth, and spiritual renewal. Our mission is to create authentic, faith-based theatre that challenges the mind and speaks to the soul. Every production we stage is more than just a performance; it’s a journey inward—an opportunity for both audiences and artists to grapple with life’s deeper questions and discover the redemptive power of art.
Six years ago, we created a faith-based theatre company with a dream to inspire and transform lives through the power of storytelling. Since then, we've touched countless hearts, inviting audiences and artists alike to reflect, grow, and find renewal through our productions. But now, after losing our home, we're at a turning point. Having had neither the capital nor opportunity to secure our own space, we have, for years, had to rent spaces that stifled our growth. We have dealt with floods, flames, and insurmountable rent hikes, which have now left us effectively homeless. Without a space to create and perform, our mission now hangs in the balance. We need your help to rebuild - not just a theater, but a place where the power of storytelling can be celebrated and transformative art can flourish.
We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 theatre company in Baltimore with a bold vision and a mission that needs a permanent home. We now have an opportunity to purchase an ideal space in which our theatre and arts center can flourish in the community we serve.
This is where you come in. We need your support to buy and renovate a building, in which we can continue and expand our programs to impact the marginalized communities we serve for years to come.
Why This Matters:
- For Local Youth: Baltimore is a city with incredible young talent, but many kids face challenges that push them toward the streets. At Lumina, we offer a safe haven where young people can find purpose, mentorship, and a sense of belonging. Our programs provide an outlet for self-expression, helping kids get off the streets and onto the stage. Through theatre, they gain confidence, creativity, and discipline to discover their purpose and reach their potential.
- For Artists: We recognize the power of the arts to affect the way people think and feel about things, and we want to create an environment where artists will deeply experience that power. Our theater and arts center will be a safe haven in which local artists can grow in their craft, create and collaborate, exploring bold, new ideas without having to compromise their values. Through our Playwright Program, we offer those with a story to tell a safe-space in which to grow that story as they partner with Lumina Theatre Company to bring their stories from the page to the stage - a place where art that is redemptive, uplifting food for the soul can flourish.
- For the Community: Each production at Lumina is designed not only to entertain but to inspire, challenge, and uplift. Our redemptive approach to storytelling brings a fresh perspective to the cultural conversation—inviting members of our local community to participate on both sides of the curtain and reflect on deeper spiritual and moral truths. We aim to enrich Baltimore’s spiritual and cultural life by presenting theatre that speaks to the heart, challenges the mind, and uplifts the soul.
We’re excited to share that we have received a $100,000 matching grant for renovating a space into our theatre from the City of Baltimore! This means that every dollar you donate will be doubled—and, since Lumina is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible too! However, we only have a limited time in which to secure these funds, and we cannot do it without your support.
What Your Donation Will Do:

- Purchase & Renovate a Building: Help us secure and transform an ideal space into a permanent home for Lumina Theatre and Arts Center where we can produce transformative theatrical art and provide a creative and nurturing environment for the community we serve.
- Increase Our Operational Budget: Our big mission requires big commitment, and your support will allow us to fully commit the time needed to continue and expand the programs that fulfill our mission.
- Expand Youth Programs: Your support will fund scholarships and mentorship opportunities for local youth, providing them with an outlet to explore the arts and develop the skills they need to succeed.
- Support Local Artists: Fund the creation of a space where artists can come together, collaborate, and create innovative works that enrich our city and challenge our collective consciousness.
