University of Louisville Guitar Fund
The University of Louisville Guitar Program is launching a campaign to raise $10,000 in support of guitar activities and scholarships. Our initial drive ended on June 5th. Combined support totaled $3,675. We hope to successfully reach our $10,000 goal by the start of the fall semester on August 21.

In addition to increased scholarship needs, our students are eager to participate in summer festivals and to enjoy the benefits of instruction and performances by guest artists during the academic year in events such as the annual UofL guitar festival and concert series. Your support will make an immediate impact on the continued growth and success of the UofL classical guitar program.
We are proud to work closely with the Louisville Guitar Society, which is providing administrative assistance in establishing this fund at the University of Louisville.
Benefits of this fund include:
1. Student travel to festivals and competitions
2. Scholarships for UofL guitar majors and festival participants
3. Funding for guest artists who give concerts, masterclasses, and workshops at UofL, most of which are free and open to the public
Generous contributions have elevated our students’ experience through masterclasses and clinics that wouldn’t be possible without community donors. The impact of these gifts is clear with the growing list of our student achievements. UofL guitar students have won top prizes in competitions and have traveled to international programs in England, Ghana, Italy, Panamá, and Serbia as well as national events throughout the United States.
Scholarship and guest artist fund support are a growing source of need. Support from a dedicated guitar fund will help us reach beyond the high standards and quality programming our students and public have come to expect from the University of Louisville Guitar program.
In addition to weekly performances in guitar studio class, we host an array of events throughout the year including guest artist recitals and the annual UofL Guitar Festival and Competition each September. Beginning in June 2018 Louisville will host the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) International Convention and Competition every three years. We are honored that the success of the 2013 Louisville GFA helped distinguish the UofL School of Music as one of two recurring host sites in the nation. We hope to see you at these special guitar events coming up at the UofL School of Music.
Please join our support network today with a tax-deductible contribution to the UofL Guitar Fund. In addition to reaching our $10,000 goal, we hope to showcase broad enthusiasm for guitar activities at the University of Louisville. My students and I are extremely grateful for your contributions as we continue providing our community with the very best in guitar performance and education.
