In September 2024, my family received the devastating news that no family ever wants to hear. Our beloved Mum, Wife and Grandma, Kim, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Just a few short months later, on December 8th, 2024, we sadly lost her at just 65 years old.

During the most heart breaking time of our lives, the care and compassion shown by the incredible team at LOROS Hospice on Groby Road, Leicester, made an unbearable experience just that little bit easier for us. The support they gave not only to my Mum, but to the entire family, was truly second to none. Their kindness, dignity and unwavering care will never be forgotten.

If you didn’t have the privilege of knowing or meeting her, let me tell you a little about her…

She was the life and soul of every party. When Kim walked into a room, everyone knew about it. Fiercely devoted to her family and friends, she would do absolutely anything for anyone. After a couple of drinks, she could happily chew your ear off for hours and that was exactly what made her the warm, funny, lovable Kim we all adored. A devoted Wife, a proud Mum, and a wonderful Grandma, she leaves behind a space that can never be filled.

To honour my Mum's memory and to give something back to the hospice that cared for her, myself and my friend Rachael are taking on the challenge of the Edale Skyline in the Peak District.

The route covers approximately 20 miles with 1,100 metres of ascent, taking in Kinder Scout Edge, Brown Knoll, Rushup Edge, Mam Tor, Back Tor and Lose Hill. It’s expected to take us 8-10 hours to complete, a very tough challenge!

We would love to raise as much as possible to help LOROS continue supporting other families facing difficult times. Every single donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and means more to us than we can put into words.

I am looking to raise £400 to donate to this amazing charity. The chances are you have either had a loved one in a hospice at some point or know of someone who has, and the work they do is heartbreakingly hard but makes such a difference to all involved. My granny was in a hospice in Belfast and as a family, we could not have managed without them. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all as we all no I’ve got a little boxing match coming up on 26th September and I would really appreciate any donations for my chosen charity I’ve chosen LOROS as we will all have known someone who’s had to use LOROS at sumpoint in our life time so I feel it’s right to show some support back to the charity so any donations will be extremely helpful hopefully we can reach this goal thanks all Limited: LOROS Hospice is a local charity and every year we care for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. As many of you are aware my beloved mum was diagnosed with aggressive Ovarian Cancer in the middle of last year, she fought it every way possible with major surgery and multiple chemos. Through all of this suffering she did not complain and continued to have the best outlook on life. For the last 3 and a half weeks of her life she was lucky enough to be cared for my the wonderful staff at Loros Hospice, who went above and beyond for her, giving her the best care, arranging a special scan so she could meet my unborn baby and also doing everything in their power to help with her pain/suffering. Without these wonderful people her death would not have been as dignified and we would have been lost without them. It has been in the news recently how much this needed and crucial charity is struggling for funding and having to close vital beds. My mum was one of the lucky ones to have such excellent end of life care and it is devastating that less people will be able to receive this now. She asked before she died that I set up with go fund me to help raise anything possible for this charity in her name, it also gives people who may not be able to make it to the funeral a way to celebrate mum by helping the charity that helped her most. So, this evening (06/08/25), I tried to do the right thing. A lady was at the fuel station in Wigston, and her card kept being declined.

I offered to pay for her fuel, and gave her my bank details and contact number. She promised that she'd transfer the money as soon as she got home.

That didn't happen.

I would like to donate the amount that she didn't send (£25.01) and anything that anybody else sends would be greatly received.

My act of kindness was taken advantage of.

Hello, I’m Tom. As some of you may know or be finding out, my mother Jean passed on the 30th April 2025, we’ve set up this fundraiser on her behalf to raise money for LOROS. They cared for her in the end days and made sure she was comfortable, they couldn’t have been more helpful. Any donation to help the charity and the work they do would be so appreciated. All the money will be donated to LOROS

Im raising money for Loros. The Loros team looked after my Nana if her last days. My Nana met alot to me and she is very much missed in the family. She passed away on the 6th April 2012. The Rutland half marathon is on the 6th April which marks the 13th anniversary of her death.
