#EducationIsLiberation Monarch Mural
It’s happening! The #EducationIsLiberation Monarch Mural has found a new home on Buford Highway in Brookhaven, GA . We are very grateful for the Latin American Association for stepping in to host this mural, which will include text in English AND Spanish, for years to come.

Join us in making a difference! We need your help raising money for the production of this mural. All donations will be allocated towards art supplies, production equipment and the unveiling of the mural. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to our organization.

Lift Up Living Walls
Since 2010, Living Walls has been at the forefront of creating public art across Atlanta and beyond. We empower artists, foster creativity, and enrich communities through large-scale murals that inspire social change and activate public spaces. In these 14 years, we've seen a transformation of the public art industry as we've invested in the careers of women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ artists.

As we face one of the worst economies of our lifetimes, countless small businesses, independent artists and organizations are struggling, and ours is no exception. This year, we've lost $100,000 of annual funding while commissions have significantly decreased. As a result, we’ve had to cancel our annual projects and programming, including our exchange program Living Walls Abroad and our artist grant honoring the life of our dear friend Laura Calle.

This summer, we’ve set the goal of raising $50,000 to support our operations as we continue to focus on fundraising, grant writing, and getting our organization back on track to sustain our projects and programming into the next fiscal year.

Ensuring fair compensation for artists and their transformative work.

Acquiring high-quality materials and equipment needed for large-scale mural projects.

Hosting community meetings, events, and workshops that engage and educate the public about the power and execution of public art.

Maintaining and preserving existing murals, ensuring their lasting impact.

Creating new opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists to create work in the public space with training and support that propels their careers.

Increasing our organizational capacity to produce our annual public programming.

This is a very vulnerable place to be in, but we have seen Living Walls change the way Atlanta looks at public art since 2010. We deeply believe in the impact of our work supporting creative careers and social change through public art. With your help, we can lift up our organization and continue this work for years to come.

About Living Walls The City Speaks

Living Walls: The City Speaks, Inc. promotes public interest in and appreciation of public space through street art by working with local, national and international artists to create contemporary public art, murals and installations around the city of Atlanta. Through this artwork we bring awareness to public space that is often overlooked, neglected or taken for granted while also inspiring social change. We engage in dialogue with communities around this artwork and the locations they inhabit through mural making, workshops, lectures, conferences and gallery showings. We install artwork in a variety of locations around the City of Atlanta, and eventually the State of Georgia, in order to bring individuals into areas they may not normally travel, and therefore get to know their city, state and fellow Georgians in a new way.
