Trevor, now 33, is the oldest of our children and lives in Clarksville, TN with his fiancée Sahara and their soon to be 1 yr old beautiful baby girl Josephine. Trevor was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year, had surgery to remove one and is now in the middle of a 9 week chemotherapy treatment. He has stayed strong and mentally tough throughout this battle and will beat this awful disease that affect so many. Many of you know that my father Jimmie Joe (JJ) lost his life to brain cancer in 1991 before Trevor was ever born. Trevor and his siblings never knew either of my parents because of Cancer. So many have lost loved ones, but so many have also beat it. We are attempting to raise awareness and support Trevor in his battle and provide a few different ways for you to show your support:
1. Due to the chemotherapy, Trevor has lost his signature and self proclaimed “glorious” beard. So in support of Trevor for the month of July, we are asking men with beards to shave and send us a pic of your smooth face with permission to post on social media for the No-beard/no fear July challenge. If you post, please tag both me and him and the hash tag #TStrong, and phrase “No-beard/no fear July challenge for Trevor”.
2. “Live Strong” is a well known cancer charity started by Lance Armstrong, that has helped so many in so many ways. Trevor is a supporter in the cause and mission. So please join us in making a charitable contribution in Trevor’s name and use the hash tag #TStrong. https://gofund.me/e8d6ebea
3. Share your story of how you beat cancer to give Trevor the encouragement and support to fight through the treatment schedule and get a clean scan afterwards. Make sure to tag us and use the hash tag #TStrong
4. Donations directly to Trevor to help pay for deductibles and other costs related to his treatments. This is not the primary goal of this campaign but nonetheless appreciated. https://gofund.me/125317e5
5. Men especially, go get checked!! Pay attention and don’t be too proud to ask your medical provider questions when things don’t feel right. Ladies typically do a better job with annual tests, but do your own self-checks too. Encourage the “too proud” men of your life to schedule physicals. Let’s all work together to raise general cancer awareness so it can be caught, diagnosed and treated early.
Trevor’s last scheduled treatment date is currently Monday July 28, so less than a month to go. He is taking #13 of the 21 chemo treatments today (6/30) and staying strong through the fight.
On behalf of Trevor and the Shoulders family, I thank each and every one of you for prayers, positive thoughts and encouraging messages. If you choose to support in any of the options, we thank you in advance for that as well.
