Orvis (OA) Melvin Memorial Fund
Orvis Melvin (O. A. to many of us) passed away on September 15, 2020.
He was a member of The Players Theatre Company family since the mid-1980s, starring in productions including Fiddler on the Roof, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and many others. Through the years he directed several productions, most recently 9 to 5, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and Moon Over Buffalo.
He was actively involved with our youth acting group (C. KIDZ) and enjoyed sharing his talent with everyone. He served on The Players Theatre Company Board of Directors multiple times and was always on hand to volunteer in any way to support the organization.
He worked at The Texas Renaissance Festival, Scarborough Faire, and at Ren Faire in Waxahachie along with many other Houston area performance groups, but his theatrical "home" was with The Players.
More information about Little Theatre of Conroe Inc (dba The Players Theatre Company): We are a non-profit community theater organization operating at The Owen Theatre. We have been involved with the production and presentation of popular plays and musicals in Conroe continuously since 1967.
