In the Fall of 2019, a group of excited, dedicated athletes that shared a passion for dance got together to form The LPHS Varsity Poms team. That first year was a considerable challenge. Confronted with a very limited budget, our girls created their own uniforms by hand with the aid of a Cricut machine. When the pandemic interrupted our season, we held virtual and socially distanced outdoor practices until we were cleared to return to play. The girls hard work and dedication has really paid off. Our team has been selected Varsity Runner Up at the Chicago Public Schools Cheer and Dance Championships for two years running!
While we have built a solid Dance program at LPHS, we still need help. We are reaching out to you to ask for your assistance in helping us to grow and transform the program. As we look to next season, we need to raise funds to help with the expenses associated with competitions, uniforms, dance camps and clinics, etc.
By donating, you will be providing our student athletes with an opportunity to compete at dance invitationals, receive feedback and critiques on routines that can be implemented before the CPS Championships and IHSA Sectionals, attend dance camps and clinics to work on developing technique and skills needed for competitions, and to help provide additional financial assistance for student athletes in need.
Lincoln Park High School is located on the North Side of Chicago. Our school serves more than 2,100 students from all 50 wards of the city. The LPHS community has a very diverse student population with 32.8% Hispanic, 30.4% White, 20.9% Black, 11.5% Asian, and 4% that are two or more races. The economic profile of our students is 48% low income, making it difficult for some of our students to participate in extracurricular activities due to the associated fees. In donating today you will be supporting a great cause - the continued development of our student athletes as dancers, and our program as a whole.
