This Short Film Won’t Exist Without Help
Hi, Hi, I’m Luke Riether, founder of Light Inside Cinema Inc., a nonprofit production company.
I believe stories matter. Not just the ones we watch, but the ones we make together. Not just the ones we watch, but the ones we make together.
That’s why we’re trying to make this short film. Right now, it lives as a script, a small group of people who care deeply, and a belief that the right support will show up when it’s needed.
We’re inviting you into that process.
WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT (AND WHY IT MATTERS)
True North is sorta like a Super Hero Movie but with a different perspective. It is a story about loss, direction, and becoming someone new after life changes you.
It follows a 13-year-old boy who lost his father and is struggling to accept his stepfather. When a traumatic event pulls him into something bigger than himself, he’s forced to face fear, grief, and the question we all ask at some point: Who am I becoming now?
It’s a well grounded story. Quiet, emotional, and honest.
THE PART PEOPLE DON’T SEE
But there’s another story happening behind the camera. This film is being made with veterans on set.
Men and women who once lived with structure, purpose, and belonging, and who are now finding their way back through storytelling and filmmaking.
For many veterans, the uniform comes off and the direction disappears.
Not because they’re broken. But because they’re searching for something real to belong to again.
This film isn’t just about finding direction on screen.
It’s about creating it behind the scenes too.
WHY WE NEED HELP
Independent films only happen through community. We’re raising funds to:
- Pay our cast and crew fairly
- Create a respectful, safe set
- Bring veterans onto set with real roles and real responsibility
- And give this story the care it deserves from start to finish
- We’re not asking for charity.
We’re inviting people to help build something meaningful.
