Licking County TNR, Inc

Licking County TNR has provided Trap-Neuter/Spay-Return services to more than 4,000 cats since its inception. The majority of the cats that come through our program are fixed, vaccinated, eartipped and returned to their home. Some of them need additional medical care (amputations, wound care, teeth extractions) and some of them are lucky enough to end up in our foster program.

Little Pie came to us with three other kittens last December at just 6 weeks old. She is now about 4 months old and still in our foster program. The other kittens have since gone to wonderful, loving homes. Unfortunately, Pie was diagnosed with a heart murmur of at least a Grade 3. In order to evaluate her actual heart health, she needs to be seen by a veterinary cardiologist. She has an appointment scheduled at OSU for March 18th. The estimate for this visit is at least $800 to $1,000 just to assess her. We'll be doing as much of the preliminary bloodwork and other testing as we can to save on cost, but cardiac imaging and evaluation by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist is still expensive.

Pie is not the first, nor will she be the last community cat in our care who needs extra medical testing or treatment. We would place any money not used in Pie's medical care in a designated Medical Fund that could be used to cover the cost of blood tests/labwork and medical care that goes beyond the basic TNR services for those cats/kittens that end up in our care needing a bit more than the basics in order to return to a good quality of life.

The cats we serve are unowned stray/feral community cats. They have no pet parent to provide for them aside from the caregivers who provide food and shelter for them. Help us help community cats like Pie (who is available for adoption!)

Help us create the Licking County TNR Tipmobile!

What is the TNR Tipmobile? A 37 foot RV that will be renovated into a mobile surgical unit. This traveling TNR vehicle will then be used to provide Trap-Neuter/Spay-Release services throughout Licking County to continue to humanely manage the community cat population.

We have the opportunity to purchase a used 37 foot RV which volunteers have already offered to help renovate into a mobile surgical unit. This will allow us to perform TNR clinics more than once a month AND take the TNR clinic out to communities throughout Licking County. The Tipmobile would serve in addition to the big, monthly TNR clinics at Refugee Canyon, increasing our capacity significantly.

A big change like this comes with a big cost. Between the purchase of the RV and renovation materials, specialized clinical equipment (anesthesia, lighting, surgical tables, autoclave, extra surgical packs/instruments, etc), vehicle insurance and vehicle costs (maintenance and gas)—we need to raise at least $50,000 dollars through grants or fund-raising to get this idea off the ground.

Licking County TNR has spayed/neutered more than 500 cats a year for the past two years and this year will probably see close to 600 cats coming through our spay/neuter clinics and still people wait months for a chance to get their stray/feral cats into one of our monthly clinics. We need to increase our capacity and this is how we can do that.

Support our voucher program!

Each voucher provides one community cat (unowned, stray or feral) living outside in Licking County with a spay/neuter, rabies vaccine and eartip at a cost to the caregiver of just $10 per voucher/cat.

Our program partners with local vet offices to provide these TNR surgeries and our program reimburses the vet office up to $60 for each voucher redeemed. So for a $60 donation, you can sponsor one community cat's spay/neuter surgery (or you can sponsor a portion of a voucher--every little bit helps).

These vouchers are in addition to the regular TNR clinics we hold twice a month on our Tipmobile.
