Lakerbots 8046 Robotics head to World Championships in TX!!
Help the LakerBots 8046 Get to the World Championship!
The Interlakes Middle-High School Robotics Team, the LAKERBOTS (FRC Team 8046), have officially qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas!
The LakerBots are a student-led team of engineers, builders, and problem-solvers who spend months each year designing, manufacturing, and programming a 120+ pound competition robot completely from scratch. From CAD design to machining, wiring, and coding, every part of the robot is built by students working side-by-side with mentors. That robot then competes in a fast-paced, high-stakes game that pushes teams to innovate, adapt, and perform under pressure.
Lakerbots 2026 Season
This has been our most successful season yet:
- 3rd place finish at both of our qualifying events
- Impact Award Winner (FIRST’s most prestigious award for community impact)
- Quality Award Winner (recognizing engineering excellence and robot reliability)

At the District Championship Event, the LakerBots:
- Ranked 14 out of 50 teams on our Newson Division Field
- Finished 33rd out of 200+ teams overall in New England
Out of more than 200 teams across New England, just over 30 teams qualify for the World Championship—making this an extraordinary accomplishment for our team and community.
FIRST World Championship Event
The FIRST World Championship brings together 600+ teams from around the world for an unforgettable experience in engineering, innovation, and teamwork.
At Worlds, our students will:
- Compete on a global stage
- Collaborate with teams from around the world
- Connect with industry professionals and STEM leaders
- Represent our school and community at the highest level
For our students, this is more than a competition—it’s a life-changing opportunity.
The Financial Challenge
The total cost to bring our high school team and mentors to Houston is approximately $35,000.
Our team has worked incredibly hard to raise funds through sponsorships, grants, and community support. To make this opportunity possible, we are planning to share the cost across three areas:
- One-third funded by the team
- One-third raised through community fundraising efforts like this campaign
- One-third covered by participating families
This approach allows us to support our students while also maintaining the long-term sustainability of the program. All funds raised will go directly toward student travel and food costs, helping ensure that every student can participate in this incredible experience.
❤️ How You Can Help
We are asking our community to help make this opportunity possible for every student on our team.
Your donation will:
- Reduce the financial burden on families
- Ensure equitable access for all team members
- Help students represent our community on a global stage
No amount is too small—every contribution makes a difference.
Time is Critical
With the World Championship less than 2 weeks away, we have a very short window to finalize travel plans and secure funding. Your support now will make an immediate impact.
Thank You
The LakerBots are more than just a robotics team—we are building the next generation of engineers, innovators, and leaders.
Thank you for supporting our journey to the world stage.
