Freewaves mission is to bring diverse audiences and independent artists together in dialogue to challenge issues of race and gender. Freewaves promotes innovative and people-centered cultural engagement through project-specific platforms – multiple, scalable, online, at established and nontraditional venues. Freewaves invites deep exploration by a wide array of artists at venues carefully orchestrated for the content and appeal to a multiethnic generally low-income Los Angeles public. Live performance art, postcard exchanges, questions about short art videos, sound interactivity, questionnaires, surveys are all intended to deeply and creatively engage people about the content at hand.
