Every year, thousands of international students step off a plane into Silicon Valley—brilliant, hopeful, and anxious. They arrive with a suitcase, a dream, and no one waiting for them.
No family.
No community.
No place to call home.
For seven years, we have stood beside these students as a family away from home, welcoming them with compassion, mentorship, and connection during their most vulnerable transition. Our focus is on fostering leadership, deep mentorship, and critical personal growth. And now, we’re ready for the next step.
Why This Moment Matters
Today’s international graduate students are tomorrow’s innovators, founders, and change-makers. But the moment they arrive in America is the moment they are most vulnerable.
We hear the same story every semester:
“I landed with no contacts, no housing, no help.”
“I didn’t speak to anyone for days and felt insecure.”
“I felt completely alone and depressed.”
Isolation doesn’t just hurt—it derails potential. Kontagious makes sure that never happens. A new generation is arriving in Silicon Valley—and they need a community.

One student, welcomed through our airport pickup program, formed a friendship that eventually shaped the founding of an emerging AI company. These are the ripple effects of human connection—impact that travels across borders.
Leadership Starts with Belonging
Kontagious is more than community—it’s a leadership incubator.
Through mentorship, community gatherings, game nights, and Midweek Hikes, students build communication, confidence, and purpose.
One of our earliest students—first in her village to study abroad—found her voice through Kontagious mentorship. Today, she leads teams at a Fortune 500 company. Her success has reshaped her family’s future and inspired others back home.

Why We Need $150,000
$75,000 – Launch a New Kontagious Chapter
This seed fund provides:
- Dedicated leaders and start-up personnel
- Transportation for airport pickups and student events
- First-year logistics and rental deposits
- Welcome programs that engage 100–150 students
2. $75,000 – Sustain Current Student Impact. This covers the chapter’s immediate shortfall and essential growth:
- $35,000 for a dependable second-hand 8-seater van
- $32,000 for student leadership training (80 students × $400)
- $8,000 for Spring welcome events and airport pickups
What we need now are the resources to say YES to every student who reaches out—and to launch new chapters where students need us most.
