Kindred Kids COVID-19 Support Fund
For over 10 years Kindred Kids has worked hard to provide life-changing adaptive equipment for children with special needs. Kindred Kids believes that every child deserves the basic right to have these tools that will help them realize their full potential.
The founder of Kindred Kids is my mom, Wendy Simyab. After one of my siblings was born with Cerebral Palsy, my family quickly found out how expensive and difficult it is to secure the necessary adaptive equipment that my sibling needed.
The constant battle of arguing with insurance companies, scheduling medical appointments, and trying to continually adapt to my sibling's changing needs was exhausting.
Once my sibling was stable my mom realized she wanted to use all that we had experienced to help other families in the same situation so she founded Kindred Kids.
Kindred Kids curates a library of specialized equipment that is provided to families with special needs children free of charge. When a child outgrows an item, we work to clean and prepare it to be used by a new family so the circle of love for our Kindred Kids children never ends!
Kindred Kids raises funds 100% through sponsorships from community events and yearly fundraising sales. Due to COVID-19 all of these events for 2020 have been canceled and funding for Kindred Kids has been cut off completely.
My mom is committed to helping her families so she has been trying to supplement the operating costs out of pocket and has been working as a labor of love for the year without any funding, but it is becoming apparent that we will need to raise some community support in order to keep moving forward.
Kindred Kids need $6000 in order to stay in operation until January/Feb when they are hoping to be able to resume community events.
These funds would cover rental fees for the facility that houses all the equipment, utilities, insurance, and fuel for the van that picks up and drops off large items to families.
I know times are hard for everyone right now, but if you are able to help us continue to provide much needed support for families and their children with special needs - we would be SO GRATEFUL!
