Project Keystone House
Since we opened Pennsylvania’s first hospice house in mid-1997, we have cared for thousands of patients at the end of life– thanks to support from our entire community. The many kind words and notes we’ve received from families tell us that this is something our community really needed – and that need continues to grow.
Keystone Hospice, a nonprofit charitable organization, was established as a model for providing holistic care in a home-like environment. Keystone has never turned anyone away because of their inability to pay. Our mission is to assure patients and families are comfortable and have the support they need to face the end-of-life with dignity. This mission continues to be the cornerstone of our hospice to this day. Each year we give back thousands of dollars in the form of care, clothing, meals and other services to those less fortunate in the community.
Keystone House underwent its most recent interior renovation in 1997 with the help of local volunteers and donors. After over 20 years, the house is in need of an update. Paint, bedspreads, simple window treatments, furniture and flooring are needed to bring this historic house back to its original beauty This renovation is needed to bring this historic house up to the standards and comfort level expected by our patients and their families. Your contributions would go a long way in creating the comfortable atmosphere we would all want for our loved ones. The house is listed in the National Registrar of Historic Places as “The John Welsh House.”
We have a goal to cosmetically renovate the rooms on our second floor and then progress to the third floor if funds allow. In addition, we want to renovate our meditation room, where we conduct free bereavement sessions for the community. Your generous donations will go directly to meet these immediate needs with the project to be completed by the end of January 2019. We will continually update this page throughout this project with photos of our progress.
Keystone House is a 19-bed, inpatient, residential, and respite facility for hospice patients opened in 1997. Keystone Hospice is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is approved to provide Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance hospice services. Hospice relies on donations, memorials, and fundraising efforts in order to provide services to anyone in need of hospice care.
