Keezletown Babe Ruth League, Inc.

As you may be aware, we have been fortunate enough to utilize the field at the Keezletown Ruritan property for a historic number of years with the gracious permission of the members of the Keezletown Ruritan Club. In recent years we have supplemented our field space by using other facilities such as Rockingham Park, Redeemer Classical Field, and McGaheysville Elementary School; however, we have always considered the Keezletown Ruritan field to be our home. While we are responsible for the costs associated for routine maintenance, electricity use, and upgrades; the Ruritan Club owns the property and liability insurance for the property. Unfortunately, due to recent concerns from members of the Keezletown Ruritan Club as well as their insurance provider, our ability to continue our league from our historic home field is contingent upon our support to remove the trees that line right field.

As you can imagine, this news comes as a shock to the members of the K-Town Babe Ruth League board. We have worked closely with members of the Ruritan Club to secure multiple bids to complete this project as well as investigate alternatives to the tree removal. Unfortunately, the most amicable solution will cost the Ruritan Club approximately $14,500. Members of their organization are requesting that we cover 50% of these costs in order to continue our baseball and softball program at K-Town. Without the financial support of this project we will be unable to utilize the facilities at the Ruritan park and be forced to look elsewhere for field space and our new home. We are 100% committed to preserving the long-standing tradition and history of K-Town baseball and softball providing a competitive yet family friendly option for recreational sports for our youth. However, we are seeking the support of our league families and supporters either through donations and/or in kind donations of services to accomplish the task of removing the trees at the field.
