Who We Are
We are a group of five students at the University of Tennessee who care deeply about the community we call home. We believe that even small acts of service can create forever change when we all have the same goal in mind. That belief is what pushes us to help Keep Knoxville Beautiful (KKB) in their mission to protect and better the beautiful city we are so fortunate to call home.
KKB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving Knoxville for over four decades. Each year, they find and coordinate thousands of volunteers to pick up litter, promote recycling, and organize neighborhood cleanups. Through this, they are able to keep our streets, rivers, and parks safe.
KKB also plants hundreds of trees, supports community gardens, and leads educational programs in local schools to teach the next generation the importance of sustainability.
What We Need
In this project, Keep Knoxville Beautiful which involves trash cleanups around the Knoxville area. For our project, we are working on restoring public school landscaping! We are raising money for new planting at public schools that are less fortunate and cannot afford these specific items. This is an amazing way to give back to the community and to put smiles on kids'/teachers' faces, restoring a public school's landscaping.
By raising $1,000, our group hopes to not only support these vital programs but also inspire other students and Knoxville residents to get involved. We see this project as a chance to give back to the place that has given us so much. With your help, we can keep Knoxville a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming city for everyone.
How It Helps
Restoring landscaping at public schools does more than just improve appearances, it also creates an environment where students and teachers feel valued and proud of their community.
Green spaces with trees and plants not only brighten school grounds, but also provide shade, reduce pollution, and improve air quality. Studies have shown that access to natural and well-kept outdoor spaces can boost mood, lower stress, and even support better academic focus for students. For teachers and staff, having a clean and inviting campus boosts morale and allows for a sense of pride in their workplace. For students, it shows that their community cares about them and their future.
This project directly connects to Keeping Knoxville Beautiful’s mission by expanding beyond litter cleanup and into long-lasting beautification efforts that benefit the next generation.
