Join KAVOD in partnership with Seed The Dream Foundation as we continue our initiative to address the unmet Emergency Services needs of Holocaust Survivors in the United States.

The KAVOD Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund ( KAVOD SHEF) initiative recognizes that helping any Survivor, regardless of where they live.

Recent studies indicate that over 80,000 Holocaust Survivors are living today in the United States—and more than 30,000 are living in or near poverty. The income of these Survivors does not allow them to afford what is needed to live a dignified life. Many are choosing between heat or food, medicine or rent.

KAVOD SHEF exponentially multiplies the dollars and critical services directly reaching Survivors. Leveraging the dollars raised through a special philanthropic national matching initiative, all funds raised will be matched dollar for dollar by the Joseph Gringlas KAVOD SHEF National Fund. KAVOD is committed to this vital emergency effort and ensuring that 100% of KAVOD SHEF matching funds go directly toward Survivor services as a critical secondary resource.

All funds will be directed toward Emergency Services and allocated through KAVOD to address the following urgent and critical needs: Dental, Vision, Medical, Emergency Rent, Utilities, Home Repair, PPE, Emergency Home Care, and Food.

KAVOD SHEF funds are utilized quickly as a secondary resource to address unmet emergency needs of Survivors in communities throughout the United States. At this time, 34 communities are partners in this effort.

JMSA Fundraiser for KAVOD
While we strive to learn from the past and prevent further injustices, it is important to not forget about those that were impacted by the Holocaust. Nearly 80,000 survivors still live in the U.S., with ⅓ living under the poverty line today. Many are choosing between heat or food, medicine or rent. Others have dire living conditions because they cannot invest what is needed to repair their homes. The Jewish Medical Student Association (JMSA) at UCLA School of Medicine is raising money for KAVOD to help these remaining Holocaust survivors in need. JMSA thanks you in advance for your donation.

Mason's Mitzvah Project - Holocaust Education
For my mitzvah project I would like to raise awareness about the Holocaust and it's remaining Survivors. Four of my great-grandparents, Lili and Elias Green and Brenda and Herman Marczak, survived the Holocaust. My Bubby Brenda and Zeidi Herman survived the concentration camps. My Bubby Lili was hidden in a monastery and passed as Catholic to survive. And my Zeidi Green fought in the resistance with the Czech army. They all have courageous stories and my hope is that, for my Bar Mitzvah, my friends and family will read/listen to their stories and be advocates for and allies to the Jewish people, because anti-semitism is still alive and well, and my great-grandparents didn't survive those horrors only for it to happen again a few generations later. As Jews, we vow "never again". We can't allow history to repeat itself.

The second part of my project is fundraising. I'm raising money to benefit KAVOD ~ Ensuring Dignity for Holocaust Survivors. The KAVOD SHEF initiative gives aid to Holocaust Survivors living in Poverty (about 30,000 Survivors) in over 30 cities across the US. 100% of all dollars received by KAVOD SHEF goes to the Survivors in the form of gift cards to grocery stores, pharmacies and other service providers, as well as assistance with rent, medicals bills, utilities, and many other financial needs that may arise. KAVOD SHEF partners with Service Agencies and provides a secondary resource for the Holocaust Survivors. These brave individuals should never have to experience hunger or financial instability ever again. Kavod allows them to live out their remaining years with dignity and respect, and without the fear of not knowing how they will pay their bills. No donation is too big or too small. Supporting Holocaust Survivors
In honor of my 50th birthday, and more poignantly the survivors of the Holocaust living in the United States, I ask you to join me today in contributing to KAVOD.

I saw an article on KAVOD in the Washington Post on my actual birthday two weeks ago and was shocked to learn that one-third of the 80,000 survivors living in the US are at or near the poverty line! Think about that -- that's crazy. And sad.

I called KAVOD's founder and we talked for 30 minutes. 100% of the funds KAVOD raises go to survivors to provide basic necessities. I have full confidence that KAVOD is 100% credible. We played Jewish geography and he even knows my cousin from synagogue in Memphis.

I know it's important that funds are directed to basic needs (rent, groceries, medications) but more importantly - I want to be part of letting survivors know they are not forgotten.

Please join me today -- in celebration of my 50th birthday and in honor of the memories of all those who perished in the Holocaust that we remember today on Holocaust Remembrance Day / Yom HaShoa -- and contribute to KAVOD.

100% of the money KAVOD raises is sent to Jewish Family Services organizations around the country who have the relationships with and means to support the survivors in their communities. The money goes to the Survivors in the form of gift cards to Grocery Stores, Pharmacies and other service providers. We serve Holocaust Survivors living at or below poverty line any where in the United States. KAVOD is designed to make sure these men and women live out their lives with dignity and respect by issuing aid by paying providers directly or in the form of gift cards to grocery stores and pharmacies near where they live. KAVOD works with Agencies that serve Survivors in order to connect with these individuals in a strictly confidential basis. The decisions of KAVOD are overseen by a diverse and experienced Board of Community Leaders with the majority being 2nd and 3rd Generation or children and grand children of Holocaust Survivors.
