KC Gender Affirmation Grant
The KCCI Gender Affirmation Fund is intended to help trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, and gender diverse (TGNC) folx in need. Our goal is to provide TGNC adults within the Kansas City metro area who need assistance paying for gender-affirming surgeries or associated costs with a $1,000 grant.
Living with gender dysphoria is extremely difficult. TGNC people are more likely to experience homelessness, unemployment, and have higher rates of suicide than cisgender people. Surgery is literally life-saving for TGNC people. Many insurance companies do not cover gender affirmation surgeries and many TGNC people do not have access to health insurance. The costs of the various affirming surgeries can be an insurmountable barrier for many folx in need.
