Support Don Alejandro Cirilo Pérez Oxlaj: Honoring a Legacy and Securing an Ancestral Future

We come together at a pivotal moment to honor the life and legacy of Don Alejandro Cirilo Pérez Oxlaj, also known as Wandering Wolf, as he approaches his 93rd year. A revered elder, spiritual leader, and keeper of Mayan wisdom, Tata Alejandro has dedicated his life to preserving indigenous knowledge and culture. As he nears this significant milestone, we invite you to join us in supporting him and his family.

In February 2025, we will gather in Tikal for a momentous ceremony, honoring Tata Alejandro and opening a new cycle of approximately 26,000 years in the Mayan calendar. This gathering will unite people from around the world, including elders and representatives from indigenous nations such as the Hopi, Taos, Havasupai, Lakota, Haida, Incan, Aimara, Mapuche, Asheninka, Huni Kuin, Taino, and Japan. Friends from far and wide will join us to celebrate Tata Alejandro’s life, sharing prayers and wisdom as we honor our common ancestral traditions.

Our Goals:

Support Tata Alejandro: We aim to provide for his monthly living expenses, ensuring he is comfortable and well cared for in his remaining years. This support will extend to his family, who have been his steadfast allies in continuing his important work.

Empower His Grandchildren: Funds will help support Tata Alejandro's grandchildren as they learn and carry forward his teachings, ensuring that the rich legacy of Mayan wisdom is passed down to future generations.

His Presence at the Tikal Convergence: Contributions will also go towards ensuring Tata Alejandro's participation in the Tikal convergence, creating a sacred space for unity, reflection, and the sharing of ancestral knowledge among all the participants, while honoring his invaluable presence during this significant ceremony.

Photos and videos will be shared with the contributors from The Tikal Convergence to share the magnficent energy with everyone from around the world!

Mi familia vive en el territorio siekopai, en la selva amazónica ecuatoriana.

Esta última semana ha sido muy dolorosa para nosotros. Mi madre tuvo una caída muy fuerte donde se fracturó tres costillas y se le abrió una herida profunda en su pie derecho que se infectó. Lamentablemente la herida se agravó y tuvieron que amputarle hasta la altura de la rodilla.

Para mi madre, la vida ya no será la misma. Siempre ha sido una mujer autónoma. Antes ella caminaba para ir a la chacra, sembraba y cosechaba sus alimentos. Ahora ya ni siquiera podrá ir al río a recoger agua, ya que donde ella vive no hay un sistema de agua potable ni baño sanitario.

Lo que les solicito, con mucha humildad, es una colaboración económica para apoyar a mi madre en estos momentos difíciles que estamos viviendo como familia. Con urgencia necesitamos comprar y construir:

1 sistema de agua potable

1 bomba eléctrica con panel solar

Baño y ducha

Llastre (es necesario contratar la gabarra para transportarlo por el río)

Cemento

Hierro

Combustible y aceite para ligar

Nosotros construiremos toda la obra con mingas familiares y comunitarias.

My Name is Jaylin Morrison Garnett. I am 27 years old, currently one of the youngest serving as Spiritual Leader Of Native American church South Dakota and Sundance chief for my Oglala Sioux Tribe. My family and I have done Lakota spiritual work for generations. A lot if not most of the work is about being a service or servant for the Oyate meaning “the people” in the Lakota language. We live in a place called Iron Cloud/knife Chief community. This community is a central place in the small town of Porcupine, South Dakota. The Legacy of medicine people, warriors and chiefs and grandmothers is strong and alive here. Every Year for the past 5 years my family and I have hosted a vision quest ceremony in spring in preparation for Sundance that takes place on July 25th. The Name of my Sundance is Zinktala Wakan Hoyapi in Lakota. In English the name translates to the bird who carries the sacred song.

As part of the Sacred Dream to host Sundance it is necessary for me to reach out and ask for help because I could not have been a spiritual or medicine person without help. Imagining the work that must be done is exciting and I know support is vital to help us make the dream a reality for the 6th year in July. I extend a heart warm invitation to come experience this year’s Sundance or a trip to visit my family and I appreciate from my heart all generous offerings or financial contributions to make this dream continue to keep on the front lines with my people and helping all who needs an extra hand or spiritual direction because we all do, and the ceremonies are the best place for this to happen.
