About Johnson's Sanctuary for Senior Dogs
3.5 million dogs enter US animal shelters each year, where 670,000 are euthanized. 540,000 of these are healthy and could have been adopted. The sad fact is that large breed seniors are at the bottom of the list to be adopted. Johnson's Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is a new rescue dedicated to saving large breed senior dogs who run a high risk of being euthanized. Our mission is to rescue these dogs from life-or-death situations, and serve them by: Keeping them fed, exercised, and socialized with humans and animal companions. Keeping them safe from harm. Attending to their grooming, veterinary care, medications and special needs as seniors. Placing well matched dogs in suitable, loving, homes. Loving and appreciating them; and giving them comfort and joy in their golden years.
