WELCOME TO THE JLL11FUND'S 2022 BOSTON MARATHON FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN!!!
The JL11Fund™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports groups that demonstrate a commitment to reducing the incidents of suicide in teens and young adults.
On April 18th, 2022, Mitchell Luti, James's brother, will run the Boston Marathon to raise funds for the JL11Fund. Funds raised will support partner organizations both old and new, from The Nan Project's established peer mentorship programs to the Paper Bag Mask Foundation's developing mental health management classes. The JL11Fund's own advocacy efforts will be expanded as we launch a podcast and restart community outreach on the other side of the pandemic.
The Luti's started the JL11Fund following the loss of their youngest family member, James, who took his life when he was 16 years old. After losing James, the extent of the youth mental health crisis in America opened up in front of them. Parents of high school students throughout Massachusetts confided in the family about the mental health battles of their own children. James’s friends shared how they had felt the same anxiety and despair that James did. Grief therapy and support groups confirmed how many people understood, intimately, the tragedy of the family's experience. As the Luti's have worked strenuously to recover and rebuild, the sharing of their story chips away at stigma, and their organization's partnerships are a force in the education of youth on the mental health management options available.
