Anita Thorpe is fundraising

Restore the Historic Jim Thorpe Home
The Thorpe Family Foundation recently purchased the historic Jim Thorpe Home in Yale and are fundraising to restore both it and the Kirby cabin to its original glory.
Jim and Iva Thorpe lived in the home from 1917 to 1923. 4 of their children were born in the home with the assistance of a midwife. It has since become an historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Since 1968, the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) has owned the home. However, over the years funding to keep up the house has diminished, while maintenance issues have increased.
The home and cabin also mean a lot to the rural residents and businesses providing everyone a local hero and history to bind the community together.
Please join us in restoring such a beautiful bungalow and log cabin so that others may witness and relive a time period in American history soon to be forgotten.
