Jenison Pink Out

Hello! My name is Cordelia (Cordie) Sorrelle, and I am absolutely thrilled to be participating in Senior Survivor, Jenison High School’s most exciting and anticipated annual fundraiser! I’m joining 11 other seniors for this incredible challenge, and together, we’ll be raising money for an organization that’s so close to my heart: PinkOut.

What is Senior Survivor?

Senior Survivor is a spin on the show Survivor, and let me tell you, it’s just as intense and competitive! During the week-long event, I’ll be staying overnight at school (yes, with no phone or car keys!) and competing in various challenges to try to stay in the game. The catch? We raise money to keep ourselves in the competition! Each night, the seniors who raise the least amount of money face elimination. The more funds we raise, the longer we stay in!

Why PinkOut?

Throughout the competition, all funds raised by the seniors go to Jenison PinkOut, a powerful organization that supports those in our community battling cancer. PinkOut does so much for families, from providing care packages to hosting the inspiring PinkOut basketball game to honor those fighting cancer. It’s a cause that means everything to me because my family is no stranger to cancer. My grandma and grandpa were diagnosed with cancer just four months apart. I am so grateful my grandma is still here and, at the same time, so sad my grandpa died shortly after his diagnosis. Seeing what PinkOut does for families like mine is what makes me so passionate about this incredible effort.

As a fundraiser for Pink Out, which supports those battling cancer, Jenison High School is hosting its Senior Survivor event once again. The twelve seniors will be staying for four nights at the high school, competing in challenges and fundraising for Pink Out. I have the privilege and honor of competing in this event, but I can't do it without your help! Help me reach my goal so that together, we can fight cancer in our community!

Hello! My name is Jonathan Ngo and I am a senior at Jenison High School. I am so excited to be participating in Senior Survivor--my school's biggest annual fundraiser--alongside 11 other JHS seniors. Thank you for helping me along this journey as we raise money for two incredibly impactful organizations.

What is Senior Survivor?

JHS Senior Survivor is a spin on the show Survivor. During that week, until I get eliminated, I will be staying overnight in our school (without my phone or car keys) and competing in challenges to try and gain immunity. Seniors stay in the competition by raising money for Jenison PinkOut. Each night, the seniors with the least amount of money raised get sent home.

Some fundraising specifics:

Throughout the competition, all survivors are raising money for Jenison PinkOut and Jenison Student Assistance Fund. Cash gets divided evenly between both organizations, but our GoFundmes are organization-specific. While I firmly believe in the value of both organizations, I have decided to support PinkOut in my GoFundMe.

Jenison PinkOut works to recognize and support members of our community who are battling cancer. In addition to helping families through tangible gifts like flowers and care baskets, the PinkOut basketball game is an annual event to honor and rally around those battling cancer.

Senior Survivor is a challenge where 12 seniors spend 1 week sleeping at the school and raising money. Pink Out is an organization that raises money for those battling cancer , cancer has affected many in my life so I would love to help others who are battling this awful disease.
