Jasmen knew hunger, cold, and the quiet shame of feeling forgotten. But she also learned something else: resilience. Today Jasmen is the founder of Jasmen’s Love for Orphans — a nonprofit born from a promise she made on a rain-soaked night: no child should grow up the way I did.
We’re asking for your help to raise $100,000 on GoFundMe — and a total of $500,000 combined (with funds raised at an upcoming gala) — to transform that promise into reality for hundreds of children.
Why this matters now
There are millions of children who have lost parents or live without stable family care. Thousands of youth age out of foster care each year with no family safety net — and many face homelessness, unemployment, and lost opportunity as a result. Globally, the scale of childhood loss and displacement continues to grow. These aren’t statistics — they are children whose futures are being decided today.
What $100,000 will do (direct, transparent impact)
Our GoFundMe target is $100,000 because it funds a pilot cohort that proves the model and unlocks larger grants and sponsorships later.
Planned uses for the initial $100,000:
Safe housing & basic needs for 100 children — $40,000
(temporary housing, bedding, nutritious meals, emergency medical care)
Education & school supplies — $25,000
(tuition assistance, books, uniforms, tutoring)
Life-skills & mentorship programs — $15,000
(job-readiness training, counseling, after-school programs)
Transitional support for youth aging out — $10,000
(rental deposits, short-term stipends, case management)
Operations & accountability — $10,000
(local staff, transparent reporting, monitoring & evaluation)
Every dollar donated goes straight into programs that give children safety, learning, and a path to independence. We’ll post monthly updates, photos (when safe to share), and detailed financial summaries so you can see the impact of your gift.
Jasmen’s story — why she’s uniquely positioned to help
Jasmen grew up like many of the children we know too well. Instead of letting that past break her, she used it as a blueprint for a kinder future. She has lived experience, local relationships, and the tenacity to find sponsors, mentors, and safe homes. Jasmen refuses to watch another child go hungry, uneducated, or alone — and she refuses to make excuses. She has built this nonprofit over 10 years ago from the ground up with transparency and a single guiding promise: no child left without love, guidance, and an opportunity.
