Help Jamaica Recover from Hurricane Melissa
Dear Friends and Family,
We are Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc.™ (JIFI~NYC), is a 501(c)(3) accredited not-for-profit /NGO entity created to advocate for (a) women in crisis situations and women in shelters, (b) amateur youth athletes from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S., and (c) underserved communities. All Donations of Monetary and In-Kind are tax deductible to the full extend of New York State and Federal laws.
We are raising funds to help those affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Our hearts are heavy as we share the reality that many families have been deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa. Countless loved ones have lost their homes, their belongings, and the sense of comfort and stability we often take for granted. The journey to recovery will take time, and our communities can’t face it alone.
We’re focusing our efforts on some of the areas hit the hardest in Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, Montego Bay, St. James, Hanover, and Clarendon to bring help and hope where it’s needed most.
To support those impacted, we’ve created this GoFundMe to raise funds for food, clothing, shelter, and other essentials. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference for families trying to rebuild their lives.
Many have asked how they can help; this is the most direct and meaningful way to do so right now. Whether you can give or simply share this campaign with others, your support means the world to us.
Together, we can bring relief, strength, and love back to our communities and to the island we call home Jamaica.
How the donations will be spent:
- Phase I - The donations will be used to provide direct financial support to families and communities affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica especially those in Shelters, Women Shelters, and Underserved Communities.
- Phase II - School supplies, clothes, shoes etc.
- Phase III- Repairs
