Since 2014 Yemen has been gripped by a devastating civil war. The WHO has estimated that 24.1 million people are in need of humanitarian aid requiring clean water, food, medical aid and protection.
There are many organisations doing their utmost to make a difference in Yemen on the ground and through international organisations. This fundraiser will be primarily focused on getting direct aid to those on the ground that are particularly hard to reach and have been left behind. We will be working with the International Council for Relief and Development (ICRD, formerly the International Council for Rights and Relief) https://icrdglobal.org. This charity has been on the ground in Yemen providing relief and conducting fundraisers internationally for many years and is well placed to ensure your donations benefit those in need directly.
Dozens of university academics have been expelled from their homes and have had their salaries stopped. They have been left homeless and with no access to housing or income. Many of these people have spent their lives working for the benefit of Yemen providing decades of education to the population, enriching the culture and trying to make a difference. They have now been left with nothing. Many of them are also elderly have been stripped of their life's work.
We have already had confirmation of a number of respected lecturers from the University of Sana'a, expelled and alone, have already passed away. These are the people easily missed by the mainstream aid organisations as they are suffering in silence known to only family and friends. We have managed to identify more than 20 critical cases, and with the help of the ICRD we can reach finally provide them with the aid they desperately require.
We can share the experience of one of the effected individuals. Dr M, over 60 years old, a senior university lecturer at the university of Sana'a for over 30 years, was expelled from his home 2 years ago and had his income halted 5 years ago. He has a number of children, one of whom requires special care. For the last few years he has been coping with the help of his neighbours, but as the economic conditions in the country continued to deteriorate the help became scarce. The family was eventually placed in a temporary shelter but their circumstances remain uncertain. Our goal is to provide each individual family like Dr M's with enough to provide 3-5 months of food and rent, we can still come to the aid of many.
We will aim to provide them with reliable accommodation as well as access to food and medicine. Every penny you donate will go directly to providing as many people and their families we can with accommodation, food and medical care. Please help us make a difference, anything that you can spare will go a long, long way. Many thanks for your support.

Providing decades of priceless education to the young men and women that would become the doctors, engineers and artists Yemen so desperately needs.
