KIDS Mexico City Challenge of 10
We are the members of KIDS Mexico City and we are all children and youth with cerebral palsy and related disabilities who receive services at APAC, a nonprofit organization in Mexico City. We are raising funds to bring two of our members as well as two accompanying adults to this year's iCAN summit. We are so excited to get there since this is our first time visiting a foreign country. For 10 days, we will complete different activities which foster the inclusion of people with disabilities in our community. Please help us get to Montreal!
Our Challenge:
10 days of inclusive activities for children with disabilities
Day 1 - Physical Activity: KIDS Mexico City members will create an exercise routine adapted to various mobility abilities.
Day 2 - Art: A member who uses their mouth or a sponge to paint instead of a brush because of their disability, will create a drawing of something they like.
Day 3 - Dance: Chapter members in wheelchairs will rehearse a choreographed dance.
Day 4 - Music: During their music lesson, chapter members will improvise and create a song.
Day 5 - Poetry: A member who uses eye-tracking technology will recite a poem.
Day 6 - Special event: A member will attend a sports event to promote the importance of including people with disabilities in cultural and recreational activities.
Day 7 - Adapted Sports: Chapter members will participate in a wheelchair basketball or boccias game.
Day 8 - Music band: The student ensemble will rehearse or play two songs.
Day 9 - Cooking: A chapter member will decorate a cookie at the local bakery.
Day 10 - Games: The younger chapter members will play an adapted version of a children's game.
