Introducing Liam Schramm: a dedicated and passionate student from Kingsley who has spent the last two years working tirelessly to earn a place at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts. We are thrilled to announce that Liam has achieved his dream and secured admission to this exceptional institution!

Liam’s journey to Interlochen is a testament to his unwavering commitment and extraordinary talent. He joined the school choir to refine his voice for acting, and has performed in numerous plays at the Old Town Playhouse as well as his middle and high schools. His passion for the arts is remarkable, showcasing a level of dedication rarely seen in someone his age.

Beyond his acting prowess, Liam is a gifted artist, skilled in drawing and clay sculpting. His creativity knows no bounds, and he is always eager to learn more, whether through musicals or other art forms. At just 14 years old, Liam is already envisioning his future as an artist and has even begun writing stories about his life in the arts.

Liam also contributes to the family business, working as a DJ on Thursday nights at That’sa Pizza, where he hosts DJ Trivia. Every penny he earns has been saving for his education at Interlochen.

Despite receiving a substantial scholarship, there is still a significant portion of tuition to be covered. We believe that Liam’s talents deserve to be nurtured to their fullest potential, and this opportunity at Interlochen is crucial for his artistic development.

Our classmate, Brooke Aldendifer MacLean, lost her son, Lochlan MacLean, to Metastatic Osteosarcoma August 14th, 2023. While most of us will outlive our parents, it's hard to imagine anything more devastating than the loss of a child. We share a bond as a class having gone through CK sharing those formative years together at that "moment" in time. For this reason, we think it's important to support Brooke and acknowledge her son as a class.

In his short 22 years, Brooke's son, Lochlan, was an accomplished thespian, growing up in Lake Forest, Illinois. After his diagnosis, he fought bravely for two years, even with the odds against him, having lost most of his arm in the process, and enduring countless rounds of chemo. He was finally well enough to start college as a Freshman at the University of Minnesota this past year where he was able to perform. The MacLean's visited Lochlan for his performance of Cymbeline April 30th, and according to Brooke, "He was ecstatic to be back on stage where he and his cast rocked/crushed/aced/knocked it out of the park with their performances."

Lochlan celebrated his 22nd birthday May 3rd before returning home May 19th and finding shortly thereafter that the PET scan showed the cancer returned more aggressively and was unresponsive to chemo. Lochlan was able to enjoy being with his siblings who were home from school and his parents before passing peacefully August 14th.

We would like to make a collective donation in his memory, as a show of class support. Brooke and her family have designated two organizations for donations: The Lochlan MacLean "Theatre Stuff" Endowment at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan where Lochlan pursued theatre during the summer.
