Charity Bike Ride for Institute for Justice
In the spring of 2024, I will be biking across the USA on the Southern Tier (approx 3000 miles) from San Diego to St Augustine. I wanted to dedicate this ride for charitable purposes towards a charity who I think is doing very good work around personal freedom, Institute for Justice (www.ij.org). This provides a bit of motivation to finish the ride.
I became aware of IJ based on some cases they were driving issues around protecting individual rights especially in the context of broad government powers. They have litigated ten cases before the United States Supreme Court dealing with eminent domain, interstate commerce, public financing for elections, school vouchers, tax credits for private school tuition, civil asset forfeiture, and residency requirements for liquor license. I invite you to check them out at their website and their Youtube channel (HERE). You will notice a theme of them providing help for the "little" guy when government power overreaches. I love these little stories.
