Innovations Scholarship Fund Association 2025
The Innovations Scholarship Fund Association is an IRS-recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to furthering educational opportunities for H.D. Woodson Senior High School (Washington DC) students and alumni. Through the Association, graduating seniors, alumni and children of alumni of H.D. Woodson Senior High School receive tuition scholarships toward undergraduate study.
The Association was started by graduates of the Class of 1980 in March 2011. The name of the scholarship derives from the name of the school's newspaper from the late 70s/early 80s - Innovations. As the name (Innovations) indicates, the scholarship is based on a blend of academics, writing and creativity.
The Association awarded its first tuition scholarship to Diamond Prue in June 2011. Other recipients include Ebonie Davis (June 2012), Rashai Lee (June 2013), Shaneice Childs (June 2014), Hownisha Reed, Jaqwana Smallwood, and Shaneice Childs (2015), Josca Moore (2016), Randy Cole and Johneese Ferguson (2017), Randy Cole, Josca Moore and Johneese Ferguson (2018), and Randy Cole and Josca Moore (2019), Nijhea Linton-Miles and Hownisha Reed (2020), Ceirra Bass (2021), Novaun Lee, Phillip Bonomini and Dewayne Artis (2022), Leia Stephens and Anthony Smith (2023), Ta'Neal Hogan and Lanyshia Folk (2024), Kaiya Everett and Shavon Tinch (2025).
NOTE: All scholarship funds are sent directly to the applicable college or university in the student's name.
The organization received its designation of a 501(c)(3) charity from the IRS in June 2014, with an effective date of May 3, 2011.
