Hi,
We are LA Community Alliance (LACA) and we are raising money to establish a food pantry for anyone who is struggling with hunger in LA.
Did you know that just in Los Angeles we waste over 8 million pounds of food EVERY DAY, even though there are over 1 million food insecure people living here?
Here at LACA, we strive to give the most vulnerable members of our community access to food while helping alleviate the environmental impact of food waste.
the dream
Our big dream is to create a food pantry where we can serve over 34,000 pounds of rescued food from grocery stores per month to over 600 families in need!
The food pantry would allow us to expand our current food program, by giving more hours of access to food, and by having refrigeration so we can store more food for longer. It would also give the individuals we serve the dignity of obtaining food in a store, rather than by waiting in a line outside.
where you come in
If we can raise $175,000, we would be able to afford the following:
- Rent for a physical location for one year
- Starting costs like refrigerators and moving fees
- Increasing rescuing 8,000lbs of food to 32,000lbs by picking up from 4 times a month instead of 1 time from stores like Ralphs, Target, Pavilion’s, and Albertson’s.
who we are
We are the LA Community Alliance, a small group of people working hard to support our community and end hunger in LA.
We are 100% funded by donations, and for the last 3 years we’ve hosted remote events and have rescued over
420,208 pounds of food, distributing to 13,544 families in need. 44,552 people ate healthier food by getting help from us.
Whether by doing food deliveries to people in a 10-mile radius, hosting Christmas toy events with a live Santa and Grinch with hand-picked gifts, or celebrating mothers who put their families first, we’re looking to expand our reach by ending hunger in LA.
Check us out and join the team!
why now
Even just in the past 4 years that LACA has existed, Los Angeles has become a harder and harder place to live, especially for our most vulnerable communities. And it’s only getting worse.
As you may have heard, the Supreme Court is about to rule on a case that could criminalize being unhoused. There are thousands of individuals who are increasingly unable to work because of disability, legal status, age, criminal record— but who still deserve to live and eat.
If you choose to support us, you choose to support a Los Angeles where everyone has access to food and dignity.
Thank you for your support.
