I Would Rather Be Reading Was Broken Into!
I Would Rather Be Reading (IWRBR) provides equitable access to literacy education and social-emotional learning to children with trauma backgrounds.

IWRBR provides reading mentoring, summer camps, after-school programs, family engagement sessions, and professional development for educators.

On Thursday, July 29, one of their site locations was broken into, and thousands of dollars of technology and resources were stolen. In addition, the children attending summer camp at the facility had to miss their last day for the summer due to the clean-up.

I hope to help the IWRBR team replace some of what was lost so that they can continue to focus on helping children in our community and getting their facility fixed in time for school to start. A little goes a long way for this amazing non-profit! Thank you for your support!

About I Would Rather Be Reading

Our mission is to provide children and families with backgrounds of trauma equitable access to literacy education and advocacy opportunities. We provide after-school and summer programming for students K-5, geared toward increasing their literacy proficiency in a safe, trauma-sensitive environment. We host monthly training for families to ensure that they can provide their students with research-based, foundation literacy activities at home that will create home and school synergy. Each school year, we provide training to educators that expands their trauma-informed, literacy teaching practice to ensure that students across Louisville are getting what they need inside their classrooms.
